The Importance of Business in a Community
As a Chamber of Commerce, it is not our role to try to create wealth or prosperity or to play an overly dominate role in our community. Our role is to work with Government and the community to create an environment in which people can succeed in business and contribute to our quality of life. Part of the American Dream is to be able to own your own business, to be able to control your own destiny and to create a legacy for your family, the families of your employees and your community.
Most of the new employment in America comes from small business owners. Small business is the backbone of our economic system. Many small businesses rely on large businesses for their survival and an appropriate mix of both is essential to our economic health. As a chamber of commerce made up of citizens of Pleasanton, our goal is to fulfill our role in an appropriate, powerful and meaningful way and to help foster the prosperity of our community.
Only by succeeding in balanced economic growth and development can Pleasanton produce the means to finance the government, civic, educational and cultural concerns our community desires.
