The Economic Development Committee works on issues affecting
the immediate and long-term economic climate in Pleasanton
and the Tri-Valley area. On a regular monthly basis the Committee
hears from local and state elected officials, utility and
transportation operators, and other groups or organizations
that have a stake in the economic vitality of the region.
The Economic Development Committee makes recommendations to
the Chamber Board of Directors on issues impacting the business
community.
Over the years, issues either supported or opposed by the
Chamber have included:
- Supported: Measure B (Reauthorization of the half cent
sales tax and 20-year transportation expenditure plan for
projects in Alameda County)
- Supported: Measure C (Vision 2010 Coalition's ballot initiative
for regional planning)
- Opposed: Measure D (the county-wide CAPP Initiative)
- Supported: East Bay Interregional Transit Hub and BART
Extension to Livermore
- Supported: Development of the West Dublin/Pleasanton BART
Station
- Supported: Affordable Housing, urging the Pleasanton City
Council to explore 'market incentives' as a solution to
financing affordable housing initiatives
- Supported: Expansion of the LAVWMA pipeline project\
- Supported: Development of environmentally sensitive electrical
power generation facilities to address immediate power-supply
shortfalls.
