City Government

The Mayor and City Council are the legislative and policy making branch of Pleasanton's municipal government. Every even-numbered year, two City Council members are elected at large to serve four-year terms, and a Mayor is elected at large to serve a two-year term.

The City Council appoints the City Manager and City Attorney, as well as members of the City's advisory commissions. The primary responsibility of the Mayor and City Council is to establish policies for the City of Pleasanton. The City Manager serves as the professional administrator of the City, is responsible for all day-to-day operations and is the chief advisor to the Mayor and City Council. For more information on the City of Pleasanton, visit the City's website at www.ci.pleasanton.ca.us

The City Council holds regular meetings on the first and third Tuesday of each month, in the City Hall Council Chamber, located at 200 Old Bernal Avenue. These meetings are also televised on Cable Channels 30 and/or 70.
