Now you can get specific travel information by dialing 511 (in the 415, 650, 408, 510, 925 and 707 area codes), 24 hours a day. Local toll charges may apply depending on the call's origin.


Pleasanton's generally flat terrain and miles of paved bike lanes makes it easy to bike or walk to work or for exercise.

Bike Buddy is a service offered by 511 Regional Rideshare Program. The Bike Buddy program matches experienced cyclists with new cyclists to help them learn how to commute by bicycle, and matches cyclists of all levels together who seek riding partners.

Wheels is a service of the Livermore Amador Valley Transit Authority (LAVTA) and provides public transportation for the Tri-Valley communities of Dublin, Livermore and Pleasanton, California. With easy connections to San Francisco via BART, Wheels is a convenient way to travel and an excellent way to build a cleaner, healthier and less congested community. Wheels main Pleasanton bus lines are as follows:

School Tripper Service
While school “yellow bus” service is not currently available, Wheels School Tripper routes provide middle and high school students with a safe, convenient and eco-friendly travel option. For more information visit

Dial-A-Ride Paratransit Service
For eligible passengers with disabilities who cannot access regular transit, Wheels provides, door-to-door ADA paratransit service.  This special type of public transportation service is limited to persons who have specific limitation that prevent them from using regular accessible fixed route service independently, some or all of the time due to a disability or health related condition.  Call the Wheels Paratransit Planning Coordinator at (925) 455-7555 for more information.

BART is Bay Area Rapid Transit, a high-speed light rail train system that can quickly and easily take you from Pleasanton/Dublin to the Oakland and San Francisco areas. Weekday trains leave the Pleasanton/Dublin station approximately every 20 minutes, with the first morning train departing at 4:05 a.m., and the last train of the evening departing at 11:59 p.m. For schedules and more information, visit

Commuter Train

Altamont Commuter Express (ACE) service is available twice in the morning and twice in the evening on weekdays only. The ACE train originates in Stockton and stops in Manteca, Tracy, Vasco Road, Livermore, Pleasanton, Fremont, Great America, and San Jose Diridon. Pleasanton is approximately a one-hour drive (in good traffic) from the San Francisco International Airport and the San Jose International Airport, and approximately a 30-40 minute drive (in good traffic) from the Oakland International Airport.
